Why Wireless Infrastructure Group?
We are the UK's leading telecomms estate management company acting solely for property owners. We have always avoided any conflict by choosing not to act for the telecommunications operators.
Why don't base stations need planning consent?
All proposed telecomms installations must be notified to the local planning authority. Currently installations on rooftops and radio masts of 15m or less in height are covered by the General Permitted
Development Order. However, planning authorities can resist developments on the grounds of damage to local amenity.
How will the report by the independent expert group on mobile phones change telecomms development in the UK?
The report released in May 2000 has made a number of potentially far reaching recommendations which are currently being studied by the Department of the Environment Transport and the Regions (DETR) with a view to implementation. It is likely that the presumption towards development will be retained but with each greenfield site requiring full planning consent and additional consultation. It is likely site details will be contained on a publicly available national database.
